Maine '11 Part 1

On the Erickson side of the family, Fiona has 4 wonderful cousins Isaac (4), Adam (2 (3 weeks younger than Fiona), Andrew (2 (4 months older than Fiona), and Lauren (5). This week we made the trip up to York Beach, Maine to vacation with family. Last year Fiona was a bit more oblivious to her surroundings. This year she is very aware of what is going on. She doesn't usually get the chance to socialize, but with 4 busy cousins (usually in the same room), this week is special.

So far we've gone to the playground, the beach, the lighthouse, and the ice cream store.

Future activities will include the zoo, the amusement park, the ferry, and buying new sneakers!

Day 2

After giving birth, Mom and Dad were shown to their room overlooking Montclair. As it turns out the address for the hospital is in Montclair, but the birthing wing lies in Glen Ridge. So technically Fiona was born in Glen Ridge. This is reflected on her birth certificate. Dad stayed with Mom until about 10 a.m. when he went home to get some rest and to let mom get some rest too. After all, they had had about 1 hour of sleep in the past 30. Home is about a 7 minute walk from the hospital. At 2, Dad walked back to the hospital to visit with Mom and Fiona. They spent the day sending emails, taking pictures and making phone calls.

Birthday

After 5 hours of labor, Fiona Pierce McCabe was born on Thursday, July 23, at 5:07a.m. at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. She weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 21 inches long. She had blue eyes and short blonde hair. Her parents were ecstatic.
